Zmigrodzka Artists Welcomes Pianist Piotr Pawlak to the Roster
We're delighted to announce that pianist Piotr Pawlak has joined the Zmigrodzka Artists roster.
Pawlak is one of the most distinctive voices among the current generation of Chopin interpreters, having won First Prize at the 11th International Chopin Competition in Darmstadt (2017) and the 5th Maj Lind International Piano Competition in Helsinki (2022), followed by Second Prize at the 2nd International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw (2023) and a widely admired semifinal appearance at the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw earlier this year.
He performs with equal command on modern concert grands and nineteenth-century fortepianos, reviving historical performance practices — extemporised preludes, historically informed ornamentation, improvised cadenzas — largely absent from the contemporary concert stage. Alongside his musical career, he holds a Master of Science in Mathematics and is completing doctoral research in geometric topology at the University of Gdańsk.
We look forward to championing his work in the seasons ahead.
